Multicore LF328 is a halide-free, no-clean, lead-free solder paste designed for high-volume stencil printing applications with CSP lead pitches of 0.5 mm and 0.4 mm.  As lead-free manufacturing becomes the norm, the ability to reliably process finer pitched devices within Pb-free parameters will be vital. 
 
Is formulated to deliver low voiding in BGA joints. Said to offer performance over a range of reflow profiles and long abandon time capabilities, the paste gives assemblers the flexibility they require when running lead-free processes. The material provides tack force to resist component movement during high-speed placement, allows a fast print speed with low print pressure to minimize board warpage and offers humidity resistance.  Soldering activity on a range of surface finishes including Ni/Au, Immersion Sn, Immersion Ag and OSP copper enables lead-free production.
 
Produces safe residues, which eliminate the need for cleaning, and its post-reflow low-color residues simplify visual inspection .

Before the HEPA filter there are two stages of prefiltering, the second of

Articulation LLC, developer of the Reflower prototype SMT reflow oven controller, has released a new software package for managing reflow oven temperature profiles. Reflower PC application allows users to maintain an unlimited number of temperature profiles on their computer's hard disk through a series of tabbed dialogs.  The application also allows the user to control oven through a point and click user interface.

Controls a standard countertop convection oven to perform prototype and small batch surface-mount solder reflowing operations. Can control ovens rated up to 1800W or 15A and comes with a 36" bare junction thermocouple, an RS232 cable for connection to a PC and the Reflower PC application.

Landrex Technologies introduced two second-generation Optima 7300-series AOI systems at Apex. The Optima II 7301 Express offers the same performance as the  Optima 7300 post-reflow system but at a  lower cost. The Optima II 7310 Extreme provides higher speeds.

At Apex, Speedline Technologies previewed the application of 2-D, BridgeVision and StencilVision operating at line speed on the show floor.  Also, in collaboration with Agilent Technologies, an Accela was networked with a Medalist SP50 AOI system to perform closed loop control for alignment of printed deposits.

Building on the parallel processing method for high throughput, an MPM Accela system can operate in continuous run mode demonstrating a new inspection technology in development for release later this year.  This system is designed for manufacturers requiring high volume throughput with high yield performance. Its
foundation is Speedline’s patented texture based inspection algorithms. This method uses a camera system which manages the gantry motion and field of view in a new way to perform full 2-D inspection of either or both the substrate and the stencil at line speed.  This method will report the data to SPC for management of the process, including the data for BridgeVision and StencilVision inspection.  Also has process control methods for process verification and traceability utilizing bar code identifiers.

Digitaltest has released the second-generation Flying Prober Condor 500, which is said to ensure high speed as well as high accuracy.

The new platform is reportedly 30% faster, and comes with a unique Soft Landing tool and optional integrated boundary-scan. The Soft Landing technology allegedly addresses concerns that manufacturers face over test coverage on complex and high-density boards, and the problems of unwanted damage using conventional probe techniques.

For the past year, RVSI Inspection has offered customers the opportunity to replace the core inspection module of their MicroMap 3-D based LS series tools. The company will now expand the program.
 
In the past, these upgrades were done at the RVSI factory by exchanging a series of parts. Under the new plan, RVSI Inspection ships a fully functioning/fully tested inspection cabinet to the customer site, where it is exchanged with the older cabinet, taking full advantage of the handler that is already part of the system. This “replacement” can occur at less than half the price of a new tool yet performs at 2X the speed on average. This replacement concept reduces shipping time.
 
The program is offered on LS-3950, LS-7100 and LS-7700 model RVSI Lead Scanner systems.
