BANNOCKBURN, IL – North American EMS shipments in September were down 9.9% year-over-year and 0.8%, says IPC.

EMS orders rose 14.7% compared to September 2020, but fell 17.3% from the previous month.

The book-to-bill ratio for September was 1.41, down from 1.48 in August. A ratio of more than one suggests current demand is ahead of supply, which is a positive indicator for sales growth over the next three to twelve months.

“September EMS results make clear that component shortages and other supply chain disruptions continue to hinder electronics manufacturers,” said Shawn DuBravac, IPC’s chief economist. “Shipments remain constrained, falling from the previous month, despite historically strong order flow.”
