NEW DELHI – Wistron is partnering with Optiemus Electronics to make smartphones and laptops, according to reports.

Optiemus is expected to invest some $200 million to ramp electronics manufacturing over the next three to five years, with the partnership generating over $5 billion within five years.

Optiemus plans to hire about 11,000 staff at its two plants here. The company’s current staff is about 300.

Wistron and Optiemus have won PLI approvals for smartphones and IT products.
