Timms to Head ASM SMT Placement Unit

SUWANEE, GA -- ASM Assembly Systems Americas has named Jeff Timms chief executive and general manager, Americas, replacing interim CEO Otto Waters.
Timms was vice president and general manager of the unit when it was Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems. He left in 2007 to become president of Microscan.
Earlier this year he became general manager of Panasonic Solutions of America.
Timms becomes ASM's third GM since the company acquired it from Siemens at the end of 2010. Waters had replaced Butch Garrison, who had been with SMT pick-and-place unit in various roles since January 1995. Timms also was director of product management at Universal Instruments.
