SHENZHEN -- Foxconn Technology Group, which only last week said it would substantially raise wages of its workers here, reportedly will relocate much of its manufacturing to other sites in China.

The China Times, citing unnamed company sources, reported the contract electronics assembly company's Longhua plant will merge with the Guanlan plant, and much of the production relocated to other sites inland or to the north. The campuses employ a total of 400,000 workers, 300,000 at Longhau.

Some research specialists will move to Tianjin, the China Times reported.

The reported timeframe for the relocation is two months.

Foxconn has come under fire for its handling of a dozen worker suicides, and had announced the wage hikes and other concessions as a way to resolve pending claims and intense media pressure.
