TAIPEI – Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) reported May sales rose 78.1% to NT$163.2 billion (US$5.02 billion) on high demand for consumer electronics, handsets and PCs.

Sales were up 6.1% over April. It was the firm's second-highest monthly mark.

Year to date, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer has revenue of NT$731.893 billion (US$22.5 billion), up 57.7% from a year ago.

Chairman Terry Gou also dismissed rumors the company was rethinking its commitment to China, telling an investor conference that the promised wage increases would not diminish the company's profitability.

Foxconn Technology's sales revenue grew 12.4% to NT$11.432 billion (US$357.25 million) adding to its aggregate revenue of NT$54.454 billion (US$1.675 billion) for the first five months of this year.
