WASHINGTON – US regulators are determining if defective electronic systems played a part in several rapid acceleration incidents of Toyota vehicles, according to a Transportation Department official.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigators have not found evidence to suggest the electronic parts in Toyotas have played a role. They are looking into many possible causes, including electromagnetic interference, according to reports.

Toyota recently recalled millions of vehicles, including pedal entrapment and sticky floor mats.
