MILTON, NY -- Sono-Tek reported annual sales for the year ended Feb. 28 rose 12.5% year-over-year to $6.4 million. The net loss was $1.5 million, down from net income of $11,205 a year ago.

Sales to Asia rose 71%, while sales to the US fell 10% for the year.

During the year, gross profits rose 7% to $2.85 million, and the gross margin slipped three points to 44%. The operating loss was $918,000, compared to an operating loss of $102,000 in fiscal 2008.

The company makes nozzles, ultrasonic generators, fluxers, coaters, and solder recovery systems (under the EVS International brand).
