Knowledge-sharing event strengthens relationships, improves supply chain efficiencies.

Universal Instruments brought its supplier base together at an informal and collaborative Supplier Day at its Conklin, NY, USA headquarters. The single-day event provided a platform in which to update suppliers on Universal’s current position and Engineering roadmap. It also served as a forum to review the company’s supplier and quality expectations, performance and initiatives.

Over 40 people from 28 suppliers attended the event, which began with a company overview presentation by Universal CEO, Jean-Luc Pelissier. “This event was intended to show our appreciation to the suppliers that have supported us throughout the years and particularly in today’s challenging market,” said Pelissier. “We also wanted to share our vision for the future and mutually establish the requirements and expectations we have to help us achieve our goals.”

The day continued with presentation on of Universal’s markets and applications, an engineering and product roadmap update, an overview of the company’s purchasing strategy, and a manufacturing and operations tour. The afternoon included an engineering technology demonstration on various automation and assembly platforms and an overview of Universal’s Quality systems, processes and roadmap. There was also a supply chain round-robin session – an open forum discussion intended to help Universal meet its suppliers’ needs. The event concluded with open time for further discussion between suppliers and Universal team members.

In addition to the event, Universal held a dinner and awards ceremony the previous evening. Suppliers were acknowledged for outstanding commitment and performance in two categories.
