WASHINGTON, DC – Global smartphone production reached 300 million units in the second quarter, marking a 4% quarter-over-quarter and 4.8% year-over-year increase, according to TrendForce. The rebound was fueled by seasonal demand and stronger output from brands such as Oppo and Transsion, which benefited from completing inventory adjustments.
Samsung remained the top producer with 58 million units, though down 5% quarter-over-quarter as flagship momentum slowed. Apple followed with 46 million units, down 9% quarter-over-quarter but up 4% year-over-year, supported by steady sales of the iPhone 16e and China-focused discounts. Xiaomi ranked third with 42 million units, while Oppo surged 35% quarter-over-quarter to nearly 37 million units. Transsion also rebounded strongly, producing more than 27 million units, while Vivo lifted output 8% quarter-over-quarter to 26 million units.
Despite ongoing macroeconomic headwinds, TrendForce expects the upcoming peak season and e-commerce promotions to support continued growth through the second half ofthe year.
