HENGYANG, CHINA – In the wake of new complaints over worker treatment, Foxconn is reportedly investigating a China plant that makes devices for Amazon.

A report by the labor rights group China Labor Watch cited excessive hours, low wages, inadequate training and overreliance on temporary workers at the plant, following a nine-month investigation.

Among the assertions: 40% of workers at the plant were temporary, exceeding the 10% limit under Chinese law. These so-called dispatch workers were not paid the required time and a half for overtime and earned 14.5 yuan ($2.26) per hour, according to the report.

Workers put in more than 100 overtime hours per month during peak season, and some worked 14 consecutive days. Chinese law sets a cap of 36 hours of overtime per month.

Amazon audited the factory in March and found “issues of concern,” requesting immediate corrective action. The company did not disclose its findings.
