HAMBURG, GERMANY -- A new agreement between Hexagon Metrology and Yxlon will marry expertise in industrial measurement with x-ray and computed tomography knowledge.

Under the agreement, the companies will seek to develop new products for the industrial market, said Angus Taylor, Hexagon Metrology president and CEO, North America.

“Our intention is to collaborate on new solutions for manufacturing, combining the strengths of Hexagon Metrology measurement software and verification tools with Yxlon's advanced x-ray and CT inspection systems. These new solutions will provide the cutting-edge measurement capabilities needed in the production of complex components and assemblies not previously possible.”

“By joining forces we will enable our customers to bring nondestructive testing and metrology closer together, whether in R&D, quality assurance, process control or process validation,” said Stefan Moll, general manager at Yxlon. “With our knowledge of smart CT and X-ray imaging in NDT and Hexagons industrial metrology experience, we truly have the resources to design the right solution for every customer and implement it efficiently.”

The companies said they expect to make technological gains by making dimensional measurements directly on voxel data acquired by Yxlon CT systems. Hexagon's measurement software will be integrated into the Yxlon CT-workflow; merging smart CT operations with comprehensive measurement capabilities.
