MINSK, BELARUS – Merger talks between component manufacturer Integral and the Russian electronics conglomerate Ruselectronics continue, an Integral executive said yesterday, Belarus news media reported.

The deal would combine Belarus-based OA Integral, the parent of Integral, with Ruselectronics, a state-owned holding company with some 121 electronics units under its domain.

OAO Integral is one of Russia's largest semiconductor makers, with $70 million worth of sales annually to the country, good for a 15 to 17% share of the domestic market.

Ruselectronics was formed in 1997 and counts among its holdings Orion, a Russian defense communications OEM, and Sirus, which specializes in TV broadcasting equipment and software for extreme environments. It is said to be considering a public stock offering this year.

“The task of merging Integral with Ruselectronics is still topical. Combining material, intellectual and financial resources at the right time would be beneficial for the Union State. At our level we have taken care of all the matters together with Russian colleagues. Now the leadership will have to make the decisions. We are waiting for their decisions,” said Alexander Dudkin, head of marketing and sales for Integral, according to published reports.
