AU Optronics Opens Slovakia LCD Plant

TRENCIN, SLOVAKIA – AU Optronics has opened a plant here, its second European site for large-sized LCD display production.
Plant capacity is expected to reach 240,000 items per month by the end of 2011, while bringing in 3,000 new jobs by 2012.
The move reportedly could aid in a recovery for the country’s export-reliant economy, say published reports.
Slovakia’s gross domestic product growth is expected to be 3.6% in 2011.
