DAYTON, OH -- Flextronics will lay off more than 400 workers at third-party retail stores around the US, according to published reports and company filings.

The electronics manufacturing services provider will cut some 113 jobs in Ohio alone, according to public filings. Another 41 will be cut in Indiana, and 254 in Massachusetts. The layoffs will take place by the end of August.

The workers are part of a services group that performs maintenance and software upgrades at various Verizon Wireless sites. Flextronics inherited the services unit as part of its purchase of Solectron. Verizon Wireless apparently has decided to move the jobs in-house, and the laid-off workers will be able to apply for other jobs both at Flextronics and with Verizon.
