OCOTILLO, AZ – Defining environmental research priorities to plan for a sustainable future is the focus of an upcoming iNEMI-sponsored conference here.

The Environmental Leaders Conference, hosted by Intel Feb. 23 and 24, will also review progress made in the past year by several iNEMI environmental projects, and discuss findings from the Environmentally Conscious Electronics chapter of the 2011 iNEMI Roadmap, scheduled for release in late March.

Topics include effective tools for rapid multivariate analysis; shared peer-reviewed lifecycle analysis materials databases; sample business cases on sustainability; transient input-output for new material applications; simplified lifecycle analysis for unit processes (raw materials); improved knowledge of product user behavior; simplified LCA for key product segments – right tool for right need; cooperative industry, NGO and regulator definition of most effective suite of policy instruments; eco-reliability; resource criticality modeling; resilient systems, and “white list” of materials acceptable for use.
