TOKYO — Hitachi is calling published reports of the sale of its LCD manufacturing unit to Foxconn premature.

 

Hitachi responded today to reports by the daily financial newspaper Nikkei that the OEM would sell a large number of shares in the unit to Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics assembler.

Nikkei reported Foxconn would purchase some $1.21 billion worth of shares of Hitachi Displays.
