TAMPA, FL -- Researchers from Sypris Electronics and Purdue University have formed a team to focus on the US government's cyber security.

Under a partnership agreement Purdue's Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS), Sypris plans to collaborate on information security research, specifically pertaining to trusted computing, critical infrastructure protection and cloud computing security. These elements are core in the United States Government’s pursuit to the continued protection of cyber security.

 

Sypris, an electronics manufacturing services company, will also sit on the External Advisory Board for CERIAS and advise on the future direction of information assurance, security and digital forensic research.

 “We are committed to the advancement of cyber security to help mitigate current and future threats that challenge our national security,” said Sypris Electronics president John Walsh, in a press release. “Sypris is currently leading an initiative to bring together best practices, research and knowledge in cyber security from industry, academia and government to increase the protection of our country, warfighters and critical infrastructure. As cyber threats evolve, so does the need to protect critical infrastructure to maintain operations and complete their missions while under attack. This cyber resiliency will be a focus of our ongoing research with CERIAS.”

Sypris did not disclose its level of investment in the partnership.

Purdue’s CERIAS is regarded as one of the leading centers for research and education in information security and assurance. The Center’s core competencies are in the protection and security of critical computing and communication infrastructure. CERIAS is recognized throughout the world for its research and contributions in the field of cyber security both for the Government and commercial sectors.
