LONGFORD, IRELAND – Kimball Electronics will shift manufacturing from its plant here to Poland and layoff 66 workers, the company said.

The 37,000 sq. ft. plant was opened in 2006, and had been operating at a loss. A reported attempt to sell the plant failed.

The plant will close for good by Nov. 21.

“We have excellent employees in our Longford operation," Kimball Electronics president Don Charron said. "We are disappointed that we could not find a redeployment alternative.”
