MILPITAS, CA – Worldwide silicon wafer shipments rose 3.1% year-on-year in the third quarter to 3,313 million square inches (MSI), according to the SEMI Silicon Manufacturers Group. WASHINGTON, DC  – Worldwide semiconductor sales reached $208.4 billion in the third quarter, rising 15.8% from the previous quarter, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). September sales alone totaled $69.5 billion, marking a 25.1% year-over-year increase and a 7.0% month-over-month gain.

I’m more curious about the technologies they might bring.

Reason is, all the capital investment in the world won’t matter if you don’t have the personnel to operate the factories.
