LAS VEGAS – The International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative debuted its latest industry roadmap this week, highlighted by new chapters on photovoltaics, solid state illumination and RFID item-level tags.

AUSTIN, TX — Despite what is looking to be a rather dismal year for the PC industry as a whole, mini-note PCs, or netbooks, are forecast to grow at more than 65% year-over-year in 2009, while the traditional notebook PC market is forecast to grow 3%, according to DisplaySearch.

JACKSON, MI -- Sparton Corp. will idle its London, Ontario, Canada, facility this week, and will shutter the site by April 30, the company said today, citing economic conditions.

TORONTO -- EMS firm Adeptron Technologies today fourth quarter sales rose 31% year-over-year to $13 million. Gross profit rose 40% to  $1.9 million. Net income swung to a $600,000 profit, versus a net loss of approximately $5.9 million a year ago.

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Sypris Solutions today reported revenue of $94.5 million for the fourth quarter compared to $103.7 million for the prior year period. The company reported a net loss of $10.6 million before special charges and non-cash impairments for the period ended Dec. 31, compared to a net loss of $2.2 million a year ago.
