JUAREZ, MEXICO — Firstronic has begun production qualification runs at its new facility here, the company said, with initial programs at the 70,000 sq. ft. plant supporting the EMS company's existing automotive customers.

Once those are approved next month full production will begin on those projects, the firm added.

"We have a team that is very experienced in working in Mexico. I’m very pleased that they were able to meet our aggressive two-month facility ramp-up schedule,” said John Sammut, Firstronic president and CEO. "We are enthused about the growth prospects for this facility and the ability it gives us to provide a two-tiered North American manufacturing solution."

Facility preparation was completed earlier this month and two SMT lines installed. The company also has a plant in Grand Rapids, MI.

"We are mirroring the quality management and management information systems found in our Grand Rapids facility in this new plant,” said Steve Fraser, Firstronic vice president, operations.
