ROME, NY – The ESDA this week announced three new documents detailing test methods for measuring electrostatic discharge in various environments.

ANSI/ESD STM7.1-2013, "Resistive Characterization of Materials - Floor Materials," is a standard test method that provides procedures for measuring the electrical resistance of floor materials used for the control of electrostatic charge and discharge. It provides test methods for the qualification of floor materials prior to installation or application, as well as test methods for acceptance and monitoring of floor materials after installation or application.

ANSI/ESD STM12.1-2013, "Seating - Resistive Measurement” provides test methods for measuring the electrical resistance of seating used for the control of electrostatic charge. It provides test methods for the qualification of seating prior to installation or application.

ANSI/ESDA/JEDEC JS-001-2014 ESDA/JEDEC, "Joint Standard for Electrostatic Discharge Sensitivity Testing - Human Body Model (HBM) - Component Level” establishes the procedure for testing, evaluating, and classifying components and microcircuits according to their susceptibility to damage or degradation by exposure to a defined human body model electrostatic discharge.
