Semi Sales Up Again in February

SAN JOSE — The 90-day moving average worldwide sales of semiconductors slipped 1.1% sequentially to $25.2 billion in February, on seasonality swings. Sales rose 13.6% from a year ago.
The results were in line with historical seasonal trends, the Semiconductor Industry Association said.
The most recent sales numbers predate the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. SIA did not comment on the possible effects of the disaster on future sales.
Semiconductors are considered a leading indicator for electronics end-products and other materials, including printed circuit boards.
