BANGKOK -- Electronics manufacturing services firm Fabrinet reported fiscal third quarter GAAP net income rose 23% year-over-year to $16.7 million, setting a company record.

For the period ended March 25, the EMS firm reported record revenue of $194.9 million, up 42% from last year, on broad-based growth. It was the company's 45th consecutive quarter of profitability.

Chief executive Tom Mitchell said, “We saw strength across all product areas and business segments, with solid growth from the optical communications as well as lasers and sensor segments.

Fabrinet guided for fourth-quarter revenue of $173 million to $178 million. The firm forecast its Laser & Sensor segment would be flat to up sequentially in the June quarter, citing a short-term inventory correction.

Fabrinet said it remains bullish on long-term growth in optical. As evidence, it began vertical construction of its sixth building in Thailand, which will add about 300,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing capacity by the first quarter of next year.
