FREMONT, CA ― EMS firm Ryder Industries will open a massive manufacturing campus in western China to take advantage of the push inland.

The electronics manufacturing services company said it has chosen a site in Jiangxi province. A 70,000 sq m (750,000 sq. ft.) manufacturing complex is planned, where the printed circuit board assembler will perform SMT, plastic injection molding and box build. The company expects to hire more than 3,000 employees within five years.

The Xinfeng site is a four-hour drive from Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Ryder says Xinfeng represents "significantly lower operational costs than Shenzhen, as well as fewer government regulations." Ryder  CEO ST Lei said, “Our decision to move inland will help spread prosperity to rural areas and provide a stable workforce for the future.”

Formerly Saitek, Ryder has two plants in Shenzhen and an office in Kowloon. The new campus will be three times the combined space of the existing sites, according to the CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Directory of EMS Companies.
