ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- SigmaTron International president James E. Barnes has resigned to pursue another business opportunity, effective Aug. 12, the company announced today.

Barnes' departure was not related to the operations, policies, or practices of the electronics manufacturing services company, SigmaTron added.

The company will commence a search for his replacement immediately. In the interim, the chief executive and chairman Gary R. Fairhead will serve as acting president.

Barnes has been with the company since October 2004 and was promoted to president last October.
