MILTON, NY – Sono-Tek’s board director Edward J. Handler III passed away unexpectedly on July 5.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague,” said Dr. Christopher L. Coccio, chairman and CEO. “Ed has been associated with Sono-Tek for over 40 years, beginning with his participation in the filing of the original ultrasonic nozzle patents with our founder Harvey Berger in the 1970s. He continued to assist us with the management of our intellectual property until he joined our Board in 2004. He has been a valuable member of our team, as well as a friend to all of us here. On behalf of the board members and entire Sono-Tek organization, I would like to convey our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Ed’s family.”

Handler was a former partner at Kenyon & Kenyon. He was named among the World’s Leading Patent Lawyers in 2003 and the World’s Leading Trademark Lawyers in 2004.

Handler, who was a 1960 graduate of the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, NY, also served as an elected member of the board of directors of The Association of Graduates (USMA) and has been president of The West Point Society of New York, as well as a member of the Board of Governors at The Union League Club of New York.
