MUMBAI, INDIA – The Maharashtra government hasn’t heard from Foxconn regarding its investment plans in the region, and is starting to get antsy.

Last August, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer signed a memorandum of understanding with the local government to invest $5 billion over five years in manufacturing facilities there.

Yet the Industries Department in the region says it hasn’t heard from Foxconn regarding proposed facility locations, despite asking the contractor to choose from three separate locations.

Meanwhile, Foxconn has begun manufacturing at a site in Andhra Pradesh.

Foxconn has a history of not following through on large publicly announced investment plans, and at the time of the Maharashtra deal CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY questioned whether this would be another disappointment.
