TAIPEI -- Foxconn Electronics (the trading name of Hon Hai) today reported flat August revenues as consumer demand stagnated in anticipation of the next-generation Apple smartphones.

Revenue was down 6.6% sequentially to NT$214.4 billion (US$7.4 billion). Still, at nearly $7.5 billion in revenue for the period, Foxconn's August by itself would make it larger than all but two (Flextronics and Jabil) contract electronics manufacturing companies.

For the month, shipments of communication devices and PCs were solid, but offset by lower consumer electronics demand, likely due to end-customers delaying cellphone refreshes ahead of the iPhone 5, due out this fall.
