EL SEGUNDO, CA – Global electronics sales will grow 5.9% this year, down from 7% in 2007, according to iSuppli.

Semiconductor revenues will rise 4% to $279.6 billion, the research firm said.

Wired communications will grow a tepid 3.6%, down from 13% last year. Wireless communications equipment will drop to 8.2% growth, from 11.1% in 2007. PCs will fall one point to 8.6%, the firm said.

"Weakness in some application markets, coupled with a slowing trend in global economic conditions, led by a US slump, dim the prospects for strong equipment growth in 2008," said iSuppli principal analyst Gary Grandbois in a press release.
