NEVADA CITY, CA – The aggregate revenue of the 50 largest EMS companies slipped in 2016, according to new data from Manufacturing Market Insider.

In 2016, Top 50 sales required $270 billion in sales revenue, down 1% from $273 billion in 2015, MMI said.

The Top 50 sales declined largely as a result of top tier EMS firms performing poorly, such as Foxconn and Pegatron. Excluding those two firms, the remaining top 48 firms grew 1.5% collectively in 2016.

MMI's rankings are based on 2016 sales in US dollars. The strong dollar hurt the relative sales of many European and Asian companies.

The top 10 EMS companies were Hon Hai (Foxconn), Pegatron, Flex, Jabil, Sanmina, Celestica, Wistron, New Kinpo Group, Plexus and Benchmark Electronics. Companies that fell off the top 50 list included Topscom, Kitron and TT Electronics, replaced by Sparton, Alpha Networks and Prime Base.
