ANAHEIM, CA -- Multi-Fineline Electronix has opened two printed circuit board fabrication and assembly facilities in China, bringing the company's total to five.

The two new MFLEX facilities are located in Suzhou and Chengdu and offer a combined 900,000 sq. ft. The new 610,000 sq. ft. facility in Suzhou will primarily perform flex circuit manufacturing, while the 290,000 sq. ft. facility in Chengdu will perform component and module assembly. The Suzhou site features new roll-to-roll technology capabilities, the company said.

MFLEX produces flexible circuits and assemblies for smartphones, tablets and other consumer electronics. It had sales of $791 million for its fiscal 2010, 64% of which is the assembly value as a percent of the company's total revenue, the company told CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY. That run rate -- $514.1 million -- makes M-Flex a top 20 global EMS company. It has some 126 SMT lines in China alone, the company told CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY.

In a statement, chief executive Reza Meshgin said, "The addition of these two new facilities increases our capacity needed to accommodate expected higher demand from our existing customer base and the expected addition of new OEM customers."

He added that the the printed circuit board manufacturer expects its annual revenue capacity to be $1.1 billion to $1.2 billion by the end of fiscal 2011 and approximately $1.3 billion by mid fiscal 2012.
