ARLINGTON, VA -- The Electronic Components Industry Association has published status reports from electronics component manufacturers affected by the Japan earthquake and tsunami, and says there is little cause for concern over contamination of electronics goods.

In a press release, the trade group said US Customs and Border Protection is measuring radiation levels of cargo coming from Japan, and that there is "no current risk" related to component shipments.

"Based on the monitoring and testing being conducted by various agencies, it is unlikely that the authorized components supply chain is contaminated," ECIA said.

The ECIA's update is online at www.eciaonline.org/japan.html.
