HAMELN, GERMANY -- Orpro Vision today announced an agreement to acquire Orbotech’s assembly inspection business in a deal expected to close in April.

The deal includes R&D, technical support, sales, manufacturing and process control solutions, and is subject to customary conditions to closing, including any requisite regulatory approvals. Financial details were not immediately disclosed.

Orpro will support the current Orbotech AOI lines (Symbion and Vantage) and support legacy products. The unit will be headquartered in Hameln and run as an independent company under the name Orpro Vision. The Americas and Europe will be served through a network of agents and distributors. Besides the offices in Hameln, a facility for the US market will be created in Billerica, MA, which is where Orbotech's US operations are based.
