October 18, 2017. Laguna, Philippines. Arthur R. Tan, vice chairman and chief executive officer of IMI, won the Global Filipino Executive of the Year in the Asia CEO Awards 2017 held last night at the Marriott Hotel Manila.

The award is given to a Filipino citizen or person of Filipino descent who achieved recognizable success in the Philippines or outside of it in the field of business, government and academics. A total of 17 awards were given last night to the most accomplished leadership teams and individuals in the Philippines and across the Asia Pacific region.

To cite a couple of his achievements, through Tan’s strategic and transformational leadership, a Philippine-based multinational company (MNC) like IMI was able to expand across borders and continents in ten years. Often, the Philippines is dependent on MNC’s coming in to develop industries. He was able to prove that “we can actually develop ourselves and actually develop others in other countries,” said Tan.

While other companies are trying to find its footing in the open market, IMI has long established its foothold across continents thanks to the foresight and influence of Tan. With him at the helm, strategic decisions are made here in the headquarters (Philippines).

This year’s event attracted the largest number of nomination bids (320 submissions) and recognized those who stood out for the great work in their organizations, the real strength of the Philippine economy.

The Asia CEO Awards is the largest business awards event in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, identifying and recognizing leadership excellence by international focused individuals and organizations. They represent a huge network of local and international business people from various industries that promote the Philippines on the world stage.
