GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Safari Circuits has acquired the former LaCroix Electronics manufacturing plant, preserving 116 jobs and restarting full electronics production under the new name Safari Grand Rapids.
Safari Circuits confirmed it has taken over the Grand Rapids facility that had been scheduled to close by year-end. The acquisition was driven by the advanced capabilities of the plant’s workforce, along with strong alignment between the Grand Rapids operation and Safari’s existing Otsego production.
The company said the move secures a highly skilled team that designs and manufactures printed circuit board assemblies and industrial IoT solutions for automotive, aerospace, defense, healthcare and other sectors.
Safari president Craig Nelson said the decision ensures continuity for a plant that had been facing a full shutdown. The Grand Rapids site has already secured new customer orders since the sale closed in September, and Safari plans to invest roughly $750,000 in new equipment and hire more than 20 additional employees to support demand.
Business and civic leaders welcomed the acquisition, citing the broader economic impact saved by keeping the operation open. Local officials praised the job retention and expansion plans that will keep the plant active in the region’s manufacturing landscape.
The purchase marks the second acquisition by a Waséyabek portfolio company this year, following its February expansion in Holland through Zip Xpress and Green Transportation.
