Dowsil VE-8001 flexible silicone adhesive is for flexible and foldable displays, smartphones, wearables, laptops, TVs and other types of electronic devices.

Two-part primerless adhesive is applied to thin metal surfaces and forms elastic layer, or inner hinge, that protects display from damage caused by folding and unfolding. Features low-temp. curing and provides durable mechanical properties. Tensile strength and elongation support designs with small folding radius. Can be applied with screen printing, roll-to-roll coating, automatic dispensing or injection molding. Viscosity reportedly makes it easy to apply to substrates such as etched areas of thin stainless steel sheets used as frames underneath display of foldable laptops. Supports low-temp. curing (80°C for 1 hr. at 300µm thickness). Higher heat can be applied for accelerated curing. With working time of 12 hr. at room temp., adhesive won’t harden prematurely. Exhibits stable mechanical properties after dynamic and static testing. Hardness, adhesive strength and tensile strength remain consistent over time. Elongation is 40%. Tensile strength and appropriate elongation help control stress neutral line, preventing damage to display, especially in folded area. Provides shock resistance to protect display panel from drops or other impacts.
