Munich (Germany) – Cirtech, a leading EMS provider for high-reliability mil/aero, medical and industrial systems, today announced that it has built on its partnership with ASM Assembly Systems and expanded its SIPLACE SX footprint with two additional platforms on a second assembly line. The Merrimack, NH-based company purchased a SIPLACE SX1 and SIPLACE SX2 in 2016 and selected this combination again in late 2018 to supplement its technology capability.

“A few years back, we replaced older-generation Siemens placement systems with two SIPLACE SX platforms,” says William Sirois, Cirtech VP of Operation’s, noting the requirement for broader component range, improved accuracy and reduced changeover complexity. “The new platforms just run; they are exceptionally low maintenance and more than equipped for our broad technology range which includes placement of metric 0201s all the way up to large connectors, so choosing ASM a second time was a no-brainer. In total, we replaced six older systems with four SIPLACE SX’s and have significantly increased throughput.”

Cirtech prides itself on delivering exceptional quality and service which is evidenced by the longevity of its customers, many of whom have worked with the firm for over twenty years. In addition to the extreme reliability required for military/aerospace, medical and industrial assemblies, Cirtech notes that being nimble and flexible also distinguishes it from other EMS companies; adaptability to engineering change orders and quick delivery on complex jobs such as flex and rigid-flex assemblies gives their customers a competitive edge.

The combination of flexibility and speed delivered by the SIPLACE SX platform is unique among placement systems. With built-in scalability, SIPLACE SX is designed for the high-mix environment and allows manufacturers to scale up, scale down or transfer capacity by adding or removing SX gantries. Placement head choice flexibility with the SIPLACE SpeedStar, SIPLACE MultiStar and SIPLACE TwinStar heads ensures line balancing optimization and accommodation to whatever current or future production may require. These attributes in combination with fast changeover, award-winning SIPLACE X-feeders and ease of programming put SIPLACE SX in a class by itself when it comes to versatile placement systems.

Rick Pelletier, Vice President and General Manager for Cirtech, says there are many features that make SIPLACE SX the ideal platform for its business. “We have to deliver exceptional quality while, at the same time, ensuring maximum throughput for optimal business performance. The more high-yield PCBs we can build, the more successful we are. Reduced downtime, component accuracy, resource utilization and scalability are all critical considerations; the SIPLACE SX solution simply aligned better than other platforms for our operation.”

Commenting on the robustness and flexibility of the systems, Sirois adds, “SIPLACE SX feeders handle short strips really well; the additional gantry on two lines allows us to bump up capacity by as much as 40,000 components per hour (cph) if needed with no additional floor space; the ability to teach components right on the machine saves time and frustration; and the powerful SIPLACE Pro software is phenomenal. The platforms are technically sophisticated, rugged and accommodating – they were definitely the right choice.”
