MENTOR, OH ― January 2018 ― Libra Industries, a privately held electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, is pleased to announce that it is now compliant with Special Publication 800-171 – “Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Information Systems and Organizations” – from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The document was designed to provide guidance on ensuring that all systems that process, store, or transmit CUI information are secured and hardened. Compliance to the 800-171 standard is enforced by a set of technical policies. NIST SP800-171 outlines those policies.

“Getting to compliance was similar to training for a marathon – there were many steps on this path, but we’re pleased that we are over the finish line and happy that Libra can offer this added value to its customers,” commented Brent Cannon – IT at Libra Industries.

Libra Industries has successfully demonstrated to the Department of Defense (DoD) that its IT systems provide an acceptable level of security to receive information. NIST SP800-171 helps nonfederal entities, including contractors, to comply with security requirements using the systems and practices they already have in place, rather than trying to use government-specific approaches.

NIST SP800-171 provides a standardized and uniform set of requirements for all CUI security needs, tailored to nonfederal systems, allowing nonfederal organizations to be in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and to consistently implement safeguards for the protection of CUI.

Libra Industries continues to invest to provide customized manufacturing solutions to help make its customers more competitive and improve their profitability. For more information, visit www.libraind.com.
