| SMTA, EMS Vet Rich Freiberger Passes Away |

SAN JOSE – Rich Freiberger, the well-liked industry veteran who helped head a pair of electronics manufacturing services firms, died Sunday night.
According to SMTA executive director and a close friend JoAnn Stromberg, Freiberger died following an 18-month battle with lymphoma and Hepatitis C. At the time of his death, Freiberger was chief operations officer at ZF Array Technology, a Bay area EMS company. Prior to that, he was vice president of technology development for GSS Array, which was acquired by ACT Manufacturing in 2000. He was a 2006 recipient of the SMTA Founder’s Award, the trade group’s highest honor. He was involved with SMTA for nearly 20 years as a director and a member of various technical and other committees.
