NASHUA, NH -- Microscan yesterday dedicated its Northeast Technology Center, an engineering and technical research and development satellite site.

The 20,000 sq. ft. facility focused on R&D of machine vision, machine vision lighting, direct part mark reading and verification. The center features engineering labs, a training facility and a comprehensive product demonstration room.

Microscan is an OEM of barcode and data scanners, and invented the laser diode barcode scanner and 2-D symbology.

In a press release,Microscan vice president of engineering Bruce Scharf said"The northeastern United States has a rich history for cutting-edge technology stemming from major colleges and institutions such as MIT. This facility allows us to focus elite technical resources on development, without the distraction of other corporate functions such as administration, manufacturing or sales."

Microscan, which named one of the site's conference rooms after a late employee, acquired the site, formerly Siemens Machine Vision, in an asset deal last year.
