SAN FRANCISCO -- IT spending recovery is expected to continue in 2010 as signs show improving corporate capital spending, a leading analyst said today.

Deutsche Bank also raised its PC unit shipment forecast to 15% year-over-year in 2010.

Total IT spending should grow 4% in 2010 with PCs, storage and servers all benefiting from infrastructure upgrades," said Chris Whitmore of Deutsche Bank, in a research note. " We believe the combination of aging infrastructure and an improving macro outlook is freeing up capital for upgrades and cloud-oriented investment."

DB also expects server and PC demand to recover in 2010, while printing will likely lag, he said.

The investment bank raised its 2010 PC unit outlook to 15% growth, up from previous estimates of 10%. "The combination of firming global IT demand, Windows 7 and an aging PC installed base will drive a strong multi-year PC cycle beginning in 2010 and extending through 2012. Recent PC trends have tracked above our recently raised estimates and our checks suggest this momentum is carrying into 2010."
