TAIPEICompal raised its shipments forecast for the current quarter, guiding for a 20% sequential gain.

The company, the world’s second-leading contract laptop PC maker, expects shipments to rise an additional 10% sequentially in the fourth quarter.

Compal said demand has improved in Europe and other large markets, and Microsoft's launch of Windows 7 later this year is expected to boost sales.

The firm says overall global PC industry is expected to increase 15 to 20% to about 175 million PC units in 2010, with Compal's shipments growing comparably.
