GLENVIEW, IL -- Illinois Tool Works' Power Systems and Electronics unit's May quarter sales fell 37.1% year-over-year, the company reported today. Overall, the holding company's operating revenue fell 26% for the period ended May 31. Base revenues were down 23%, while currency translation knocked down sales 9%, offset by a 6% in sales from acquisitions in the quarter. It was the fifth straight month core revenues fell between 21 and 25%.Power Systems and Electronics reported overall sales of $395.5 million and a margin of 6.4% for the quarter. ITW is the parent of Speedline Technologies, Kester Solder, Vitronics-Soltec, Chemtronics and several other leading electronics suppliers.
