| DoD Names Navy as PCB Agent |

WASHINGTON – The Secretary of the Navy has been confirmed as the Department of Defense Executive Agent for printed circuit board technology, according to a memorandum issued this week by the Deputy Secretary of Defense. The appointment is in compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2009 (Pub. L. 110-417) and in conformance with DoD Directive 5101.1. The DoD Executive Agent has the following roles and responsibilities: · Develop and maintain PCB and interconnect technology roadmaps that ensure the DoD has access to manufacturing and technology to meet future requirements. · Develop recommended funding strategies to meet roadmap requirements. · Assess vulnerability, trustworthiness and diversity of PCB supply chain including the development of trustworthiness requirements for PCBs used in defense systems. · Make recommendations to the Secretary of Defense for other roles and/or responsibilities that should be included in the printed circuit board technology program. The Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Logistics, Technology and Logistics is designated the OSD principle staff assistant for printed circuit board technology. It is expected the Navy will in turn name the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, in Crane, IN, to execute the responsibilities. Crane is equipped with a full line of bare board fabrication, assembly and test equipment.
