WUHAN, CHINA -- Several hundred Foxconn workers today reportedly threatened to jump off a factory roof here in a protest over wages. The protest is notable in that it comes just weeks after Foxconn, the common name of Hon Hai Precision Industry, agreed to raise salaries for its workers in China. That decision followed mass worker protests and consumer and media outrage over reports of worker abuse. According to published reports, some 200 workers took to the roof after learning that their pay would be less than they had made at other Foxconn sites. A Hon Hai spokesman downplayed the event, saying that no one jumped and the dispute has been settled. Foxconn has been relocating large volumes of production to inland China to avoid increased wage pressure and other problems associated with Shenzhen. ------------------------------------------------ 今日据报道,数百名富士康工人威胁要跳下超过工资的抗议工厂屋顶。
