ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Jabil CEO Timothy Main today called out Foxconn's employment track record, deeming it "abusive" and asserting it will cost the Taiwanese EMS firm down the road.

Prompted by a question at its annual shareholders meeting, Main remarked, "[Foxconn has] some very abusive policies, employment policies. And I think their business will begin to suffer because of the way they treated their employees."

It was an interesting development for Main. Earlier, the Jabil executive had intimated that Apple had become more than 10% of the EMS company's business. Apple, of course, has seen it's name dragged through the mud due to its seemingly unwavering allegiance to Foxconn, its largest supplier for everything from iPhones to iPads to IPods.

Foxconn's CEO Terry Gou took heat recently for having compared to the contract electronics manufacturer's one-million strong workforce to "animals." Nearly 20 workers have committed suicide at the company's plants over the past three years.0

Main took the opportunity to stress Jabil is different. "[We have] a lot of very progressive policies and, we treat people like human beings like we want to, you know, treat our own kids. So you don’t have to worry about that with us."
