MUNICH -- Placement machine manufacturer deliveries increased almost 60% sequentially in the second quarter, making it the strongest quarter since 2000.

Year-over-year, deliveries are up almost 400%, according to analysis released today by Siemens' Siplace business unit.

The positive trend is evident in all regions, though China accounted for over 60% of machine shipments in the quarter.

More than 80% of shipments during the past quarter were for high-end machines, Siemens said.
The Japan-based trade group JARA tracks placement equipment sales. It is unclear whether Siemens' figures were its own, or based on the JARA numbers.
