TAIPEI -- Compal Electronics reported second-quarter net income rose 99% year-over-year to NT$6.4 billion, but the personal computer maker trimmed its third-quarter outlook.
Revenue at the world's second-largest contract manufacturer of laptop PCs was NT$217.1 billion, up 78% compared with last year. However, Compal hedged its outlook, saying notebook shipments may fall by “mid-single digit” sequentially, down from previous growth forecasts of 10%. First-half net income rose 148% year-over-year to NT$14.9 billion. Total revenue was NT$ 433.7 billion, up 88% from a year ago. First-half consolidated revenue and net income were NT$456 billion and NT$15 billion, up 80% and 143% year-over-year, respectively.
